We believe that training and updating educators on resource issues and topics is critical to a greater understanding of the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem. The Glacier Institute offers periodic teacher workshops on various topics in its schedule of courses. All workshops incorporate experts in a variety of fields related to the workshop’s topic. In addition, participants are given numerous tools and resources to bring back to the classroom.
2017 Discovering Glacier through Science & Culture Teacher Workshop
This year we are partnering with Glacier National Park to educate teachers and their students about park resource issues. Teachers will learn about a variety of current research projects and learn about the park’s resources through both native perspectives and western science.
The Discovering Glacier though Science & Culture Teacher Workshop will be held from June 26-29 and is based out of our Field Camp, located inside the park boundary in West Glacier. The workshop is geared toward upper elementary, middle, and high school teachers; participation is limited to 18 teachers. Workshop attendees will receive 32 OPI credits and, if applicable, university graduate credit is available for an extra fee. Room and board will be provided free of charge during the workshop and participants who complete the workshop will receive a grant to defray their travel/transportation and material costs.
