At the Chief Mountain Customs Station, we will begin the six mile hike to Belly River Ranger Station and Gable Creek Campground.  The group will spend two nights at Gable Creek Campground or Cosley Lake Campground and take day hikes to several places in Belly River.  Class discussions will include the geology, wildlife biology, botany, and human history of Belly River.  Although this is not a strenuous backpacking trip, you must be prepared for backcountry hiking conditions.  Students must provide their own food and appropriate backpacking and rain gear.
