Are you awed by the night sky when you
camp out under the stars? Do you wish you knew more about
astronomy? Join us for an overnight kayaking excursion
that includes learning about and observing the night sky.
We’ll start with an on-shore orientation by Silver Moon
Kayak Company to learn basic sea kayak skills. We’ll
paddle to Cedar Island, a gem of an island located on the
Westside of Flathead Lake. Using binoculars and a telescope,
we will identify major constellations and stars along with
various nebulae and galaxies. This trip includes a short
side-paddle to the Native American Pictographs, steep cliffs
hanging over the lake with beautiful Indian paintings,
viewable only by boat. No kayaking or astronomy experience
is necessary!
